Zhang Maoyu, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with the United Nations Resident Coordinator in China Nicholas Rosellini on Mar 15 to exchange views on strengthening cooperation between the two sides.
Rosellini introduced recent reforms in the UN. He said that the UN has carried out reforms in the areas of peacekeeping, budget management and development, and is striving to provide more efficient services to member states including China through those measures. The UN is willing to further strengthen cooperation with China and promote the Belt and Road Initiative as an accelerator for achieving the sustainable development agenda.
Zhang expressed his condolences to the 19 UN staff members who were killed in the Ethiopian Airlines crash.
He said that the UN system in China has given strong support to the country's economic and social development. It is an important partner for China to carry out multilateral assistance and an important platform for cooperation between the CIDCA and other developing countries. The CIDCA will further strengthen cooperation with relevant UN agencies.
